Erik Skabo - Galleri Balder 09.09 - 17.10.2021

My dedication to landscape photography gives me a fortunate opportunity to discover the sublime nature and inspiring moments when traveling around in Norway. To experience fragile coastlines, majestic mountains and wide open landscapes gives me a humble approach to the nature elements. To make a photograph gives me a great challenge to combine my state of mode with what I actually see. I am trying to make something different.
I hope I manage to communicate to the viewer inspiration and involvement.
We all have a responsibility to preserve, respect and act as guests when we are entering the nature. We must protect and stay up for shortsighted economical gains and uncontrolled depletion of natural resources. This responsibility are we all sharing.
My best photographic seasons are mostly from September till April/May. I prefer the winters with unpredictable weather and light conditions. Strong nature elements usually give me a humble approach to what I observe and like to accomplish.
Areas of special interest are Lofoten and Troms/Finnmark and the alpine area of central Norway.
I am inspired by the great graphical contrasts the snow gives to the landscape elements and I develop my images only in black and white.
To find your location and wait several hours and even days for the right conditions to come, can be very rewarding during the winter season and usually a very cold experience.
The vast coastline of Norway and the great mountains and fjords gives a passionate landscape photographer lot of nice challenges.
My photo theme the last years has simply been to travel to well known places in Norway and to explore and capture the scene as it aproach my soul and feelings.
Some hidden beauty places have also been discovered during my trips.
I like to explore my own country and to meet my countrymen gives me lot of knowledge, involvement and satisfaction.
